Having your entire life dedicated to producing art is a hard dream to accomplish. Nowadays, it is safe to say that doing so is a very risky path; because often there's no way back. I wonder if it's appropriate to suggest people to keep it as a hobby, and seek something more stable first, before seeking out a career as an artist. Even when artists do turn their work into a profitable job, it's not uncommon to see them become consumed by it as it gradually turns less of an expression of themselves and more of a capitalized product. I wouldn't really know, personally, but I've had similar feelings which I can only assume to be what it would be like to have your passion turn into your boss.
I've met a lot of people who went to art school and got a degree, but never got themselves a solid job and ended up wasting all that effort they put to go through their love for arts. It could have been worse for them, you know: they could've gotten a bachelor in theatre, and that's when the shit hits the fan, because no one really watches plays anymore; and getting hired as an actor for a Movie requires an incredibly amount of effort to stand out. To literally live out of your work as an artist you need to be exceedingly good at it, but sometimes that is not enough, as people tend to change their tastes and become bored of things out of the sudden. You could say that's an eloquent way of how human entertainment works, and plenty of lives get lost throughout its path one way or the other.
