I don't know, I liked Sonic Adventure One. I think it's the whole story with me. I'm a story guy. The whole history of the Chaos Emeralds fascinated me. Going back and time and all that. But hey, not everyone's cup of tea.
The story was pretty linear to me. Filled with lots of cliches and maybe i would have taken it more seriously if the voice acting wasn't so poorly executed. Sonic adventure 2 does much more with the story because of shadow and has improved voice acting and more plot to it.

Sonic is still cool. The only reason people think the new Sonic is bad is because they pick and choose, intentionally picking the worst of the games and saying all Sonic games are like that now. Play Sonic Advance, Sonic Rush, Sonic Colors, hell, even Sonic Heroes is good if you actually play it.

i grew up with Sonic heroes and thought it was fantastic, and i did mention i think Sonic colors is the greatest game ever made for the Wii in literally forever.
